Free Market Health Names Chris Burns as Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer and Darcey Schoenebeck as Chief People & Transformation Officer
Today, Free Market Health (FMH) is announcing the appointments of two seasoned healthcare leaders to its executive team. Chris Burns has joined the organization as Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, and Darcey Schoenebeck has joined as Chief People and Transformation Officer, both bringing extensive experience across healthcare, pharmacy benefit management, and organizational growth.
FMH is a healthcare technology company connecting the people and processes of the specialty pharmacy ecosystem to keep treatments on track. The market is demanding a more connected, patient-centered approach to specialty pharmacy that improves access, affordability, and quality of care. FMH continues to rapidly expand its role in transforming how stakeholders, across the ecosystem, work better together and, as a result, our platform will soon be managing 15 million lives and nearly $20 billion in annualized specialty medication spend. To support its next phase of rapid growth, FMH is building upon this significant momentum with a focus on scaling the organization, developing its employees, and deepening its impact across the specialty pharmacy ecosystem.
“Every step of our growth is about helping more patients get the treatment they need without chasing the care they depend on,” said Joe Cardosi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Chris and Darcey have held leadership roles at the ecosystem partners we work alongside, so they bring a valuable perspective to FMH. Their leadership will help us scale our strategy and our team without losing sight of the patient, and I’m thrilled they’ve joined team FMH.”
Chris joins the organization with 25+ years of leadership experience in marketing, brand, and strategy, including senior leadership positions at Aetna, Elevance Health, Expion Health, and Kalderos which was recently acquired by Model N. As Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, Chris will lead the alignment of FMH’s enterprise strategy, market positioning, and growth initiatives across product, operations, and commercial teams, ensuring stakeholder insights are translated into innovative solutions that advance the quality, accessibility, and affordability of specialty pharmacy care.
“We’re at a pivotal moment in specialty pharmacy,” said Chris. “Questions about how care is delivered, who benefits, and what it costs are becoming increasingly important. FMH has already demonstrated that there’s a better way to bring stakeholders together, eliminate friction, and put patients at the center of care. I’m excited by the opportunity to build on that foundation and help reshape how specialty pharmacy works.”
Darcey brings with her a wealth of experience across healthcare business development and people and culture, holding senior leadership roles at Optum, Prime Therapeutics, Catamaran, and RxSense. As Chief People and Transformation Officer, Darcey will spearhead the talent strategy and HR infrastructure that will enable FMH to scale, while building the tools, services, and culture that enhance the value of FMH’s people and platform across the specialty industry and for the patients it serves.
“FMH has a unique ability to create value across the specialty pharmacy ecosystem, most importantly by helping patients with serious diagnoses access critical medications more quickly and with fewer hurdles,” said Darcey. “The team’s passion and expertise are inspiring, and I’m excited to help shape an employee experience that drives even better outcomes for patients and our partners.”
